Description Bergamot essential oil is cold-pressed from the rind of the Citrus Bergamia fruit, a small, intensely fragrant citrus grown almost exclusively along the sun-drenched coastal strip of Calabria in southern Italy. The unique microclimate of this narrow region — where the Ionian and Tyrrhenian seas meet the Aspromonte mountains — produces a fruit found virtually nowhere else on earth. Bergamot is perhaps best known as the defining note of Earl Grey tea, but its role in skincare and perfumery is equally distinguished; it forms the backbone of some of the world's most iconic fragrances. In formulation, it brings both clarifying, oil-balancing properties and a luminous, citrus-floral brightness.
